Central banker says worried by households’ rising debt burden
MOSCOW, Mar 11 (PRIME) -- The central bank is concerned with the growing debt burden of households, Central Bank First Deputy Chairwoman Ksenia Yudayeva said on Monday during the Russian Business Week forum.
“The sphere that concerns us the most is consumer lending…What do we see here? We see that interest rates have fallen significantly, but we also see that the debt burden has started to grow again recently. Consumer lending is slowing down slightly, but the debt burden is still increasing,” she said.
“This is why we are introducing a new mechanism this year, a mechanism of a debt burden ratio.”
